HValentine’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year and not because I love getting all dressed up and eating a ton of chocolate & champagne because lets me honest; I do both of those quite frequently regardless of the day!
It is actually because Raj (My hubby) and I had our first date on Vday! I know I know kind of crazy but it serves as our “how long have you two been together” date. We were set up while I was living in Dallas and he was in Scottsdale. My job at the time frequently took me to Arizona and I happen to be in town the week of Vday. The only night I wasn’t taking clients to dinner was Vday (obvi) so I let Raj know that if he didn’t have plans already I was free. I also told him I would completely understand if he just wanted to meet for casual drinks so he didn’t feel pressured because of what Holiday it was.
His response (and probably one of the things that made me start falling for him) was oh heck no, we are going on a proper date; I will pick you up at 7. (Or something along those lines…Its been 6 years so I don’t remember verbatim lol) When he showed up at my hotel he had flowers & chocolates waiting in the car, opened the door for me (duh) and then had pulled strings to get us into one of the best sushi spots in town even though it was so last minute. Needless to say he impressed me that first night and now the rest is history!
Since it is such an important day for our relationship history we always make a point to celebrate and so I am always looking for a great outfit to remind him what he’s got. 😉
When I was in NYC over Christmas I went into one of my happy places (Bergdorf Goodman’s) and I eyed these pants from across the store on the sale rack! I was drawn to the color because it is the perfect fuschia hot pink and when I tried them on and saw how the slit moved when I walked I was sold; plus they were 50% off so ya know.
I paired them with this gorgeous black lace bodysuit that I saw in Intermix’s Christmas catalog and to play up the textures added my favorite black velvet tuxedo jacket!
This is a great Vday outfit for someone who likes to keep it unique but also wants to invest in separates that they can pair a ton of different ways even after an event. Could also be great for someone a little more conservative who likes to be more covered; the hint of lace underneath the blazer still keeps it romantic & sexy while be covered up.
Fit Notes: The bodysuit runs small so size up! The pants and blazer are all true to size!
