The Feminist take on Menswear

November 29, 2018

Whenever I am in NYC which is decently often as it is my favorite city in the Country I always make a point to stop by my favorite vintage store; What goes around comes around! They specialize in high end designer Vintage in very good condition and they never disappoint. A year ago I was browsing the racks when I spotted this vintage Dolce & Gabbana plaid suit. The elbows had brown corduroy detailing and it was my size! The Vintage Gods were shining a light on it from the heavens and I rushed to try it on. The only thing about falling in love with a vintage piece is that you never know how it is going to fit and its your only option; there are no other sizes. Luckily for me this suit decided I was to be its next owner and fit me like a glove.

I adore a suit on women and I especially liked this one because D&G kept it very masculine instead of trying to feminize it too much. They understand that the feminist component of a suit is the woman herself wearing it! I did feminize the styling to add a faux fur stole and trendy Gucci belt to bring it up to current fashion trends!

I obviously can’t link this exact suit but I linked two others that are very similar and if the full suit is too much look for you, I linked menswear inspired blazers that you can easily add over denim or solid trousers.

Xo,
Lael
