Stripe Play

April 18, 2017

When I saw this Milly top in the store I immediately was reminded of an outfit I had seen on Instagram with a striped top & skirt paired together. I loved the boldness of the look so much that I screenshot it and filed it away in my Outfit Inspo folder.

I purchased this stripe skirt from BCBG a few years ago and it is so versatile. When I saw the Milly top with stripes in the opposite direction and the amazing sleeve, I knew it would pair perfectly with my skirt and I would finally be able to recreate the look I had seen!

When pairing stripes my best advice is to stay in the same color range and choose stripes that go in opposite directions. I also would choose one voluminous feature and keep the other basic. For example, because the sleeves in this top are so big and flowy it pairs well with the fitted skirt. If you have a more flare skirt stick with a more basic and fitted top.

For the shoes I first thought I would keep it simple with a basic black pump but I am so in love with these Alaia heels that I thought if you are gonna go bold you might as well go all the way!

The earrings were a nice pop and in homage to my favorite color; turquoise.

Because the skirt and heels are last season I linked some similar styles but you can just use my look as an inspiration to create this striped play look on your own!
